Self-Love and Happiness: Small Efforts for a Big Impact

Self-Love and Happiness: Small Efforts for a Big Impact

To keep yourself happy, it’s important to make small efforts that bring joy into your life. For example, buying and wearing slippers you love, dressing in your favourite clothes, and decorating your room with things you like. When you surround yourself with things that make you happy, you feel better.

Decorate your room with items that bring you joy. For instance, I love having a big teddy bear in my room. I talk to it like a friend, and just seeing it makes me happy. Eating your favourite food, keeping fresh flowers in your room, and using pleasant-smelling perfumes can also lift your spirits. I find joy in the scent of perfume, so I make sure to have some that I love.

Pamper yourself and show self-love. Sometimes, I look in the mirror, smile, and say to myself, “Jyoti, I love you. Thanks to you, I can feel so much happiness and sadness. So, I want to see you happy.” When you feel good about yourself, you can spread that happiness to your loved ones. It’s often said that you can only give what you have, so if you’re happy, you can make others happy too.

Take care of your loved ones and avoid speaking to them in anger. If they’re upset, but you’re in a good mood, you can handle things with love and patience. This creates a positive atmosphere at home. Remember, we already face a lot of stress outside due to work, studies, health issues, and many other reasons. If there’s stress at home too, it becomes unbearable. So, avoid talking to those who love and trust you blindly when you’re angry. Instead, take a few seconds to calm down, drink water, take deep breaths, and sit comfortably. Eat something you like, and once your anger subsides, address the issue calmly.

The root cause of most problems at home is often anger. So, remember not to talk when you’re angry. If someone tries to talk to you, tell them, “I’m angry right now, please leave me alone for a while.” During this time, try meditation or yoga, or do something that makes you happy and peaceful. I’m not suggesting you do anything wrong to calm your anger. We all know the difference between right and wrong. Just remember to stay happy yourself and keep those around you happy too.

Motivate yourself and others for self-love. If you’re not happy, how can you make anyone else happy? And if you don’t love yourself, why would anyone else love you? When you love and take care of yourself, you’re better equipped to love and care for others.
